We acknowledge the traditional Aboriginal custodians of the lands, waterways and skies of the Bunurong Peoples of the Kulin Nation where we gather, learn and grow at Aspendale Primary School.
We pay our respects to past and present Traditional Custodians and Elders of all nations, and their ongoing cultural, spiritual and educational practices.
We extend this respect to all Torres Strait Islanders and any First Nations peoples who learn or visit these grounds. We thank you for sharing and caring for the land we are learning on.
New version of the Acknowedgement of Country
Above is an updated Acknowledgment of Country that has been written in consultation with staff, students and members of our community. We recieved positive feedback and approval from our friends at the Bunurong Land Council in 2023.
Dear parents and carers,
Welcome to Term 3, a term where we continue to implement the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0 with a focus on enabling learning and explicit instruction across literacy and numeracy. Our students have settled back into their warm classrooms and are enjoying working with their teachers.
NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC Week took place from 6 - 13 July and the theme in 2025 is ‘The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy.’ Across the school students have been learning about the achievements and contributions of First Nations people. Our Year Six leaders have created videos which the school has watched each day to learn more about First Nations culture and the achievements of specific people.

International Students Arrive
This week the first group of international students started at Aspendale Primary School for Term Three. It was lovely to welcome their families on Monday morning and to see them supported by our Mandarin Leaders as they settled into their classrooms. They are joining in the learning and enjoying building friendships in the yard. We look forward to our next group arriving on Monday.
1000 Year Forest Update
Work on our 1000 Year Forest continues to progress. The external seating and edging are complete, the grass has been treated and the mulch has been spread. The excitement is currently coming from the compost where the temperature is rising, meaning rich soil is being cultivated ready for planting! We look forward to the next stages of our forest installation.
State Cross Country Championships
Today Fletcher Blue competed in the Victorian State final for Cross Country, running in the 9/10 year old, 2km race. Fletcher competed against the top 96 runners and placed an outstanding 30th position. Congratulations Fletcher for proudly representing yourself and APS at State level.
Sister School Visit
Next week, 11 students and their teacher will visit from our sister school in Nanjing, China. Nanjing is the capital city of Victoria’s sister state, Jiangsu province. The visitors from our Xure Jingcheng Primary School will spend the week at our school, learning with students across the school and attending a Department function at the MCG. We are grateful for the generous hospitality of our host families who will look after the students in their homes over the week. We look forward to another rich opportunity to strengthen ties between our two schools.
Enjoy the rest of your week,
Tom

Re: Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)
