We acknowledge the traditional Aboriginal custodians of the lands, waterways and skies of the Bunurong Peoples of the Kulin Nation where we gather, learn and grow at Aspendale Primary School.
We pay our respects to past and present Traditional Custodians and Elders of all nations, and their ongoing cultural, spiritual and educational practices.
We extend this respect to all Torres Strait Islanders and any First Nations peoples who learn or visit these grounds. We thank you for sharing and caring for the land we are learning on.

Dear parents and carers,
The winter sunshine throughout this week has been an enticing glimpse of Spring being in the not too distant future. Our students continue to make the most of our outdoor play spaces during break times and we appreciate seeing them make kind, safe and fair choices as they interact with each other.

100th Day of School
Today we have seen fairies, footballers, foxes, The Flash, characters from Frozen and a cast of senior citizens take up residence in our Foundation classrooms to celebrate the first 100 days of Foundation. The students have celebrated all things ‘one hundred’ over the day and reflected on what they have learnt over their time at our school. Three of these things were:
-how to count to 100
-’ch’ is a diagraph
-that 10 x 10 is 100
Thanks to our Foundation staff and the families of the students for their time and effort to celebrate today.

Student Movement
We are commencing planning for our 2026 school structure. To assist with this, if you are planning to move your child to another school in 2026, could you please advise the office so that we can have accurate numbers for each cohort.
NAPLAN Results
Data from the 2025 NAPLAN assessments has been released to parents, schools and the wider community over the first part of this term. As a school, we are proud of the efforts of each of our students during these assessments and we utilise the data from the assessments to evaluate the impact of our teaching and learning programs.
In 2025, students at Aspendale Primary School continued to perform well in Numeracy when compared to similar schools. Our results in Grammar & Punctuation and Writing improved when compared to similar schools and we reduced the number of students assessed in the Needs Additional Support band in Reading, Writing and Numeracy across Years 3 & 5.Our Spelling results continue to be an area for improvement and our School Improvement Team is investigating what we can learn from this data.
As a teaching team, we continue to be informed by NAPLAN data along with other assessments to inform us as we strive to provide high-quality learning opportunities for all students at Aspendale Primary School.
Principal’s Day
Last Friday Amelia and I were feeling very appreciated by our school community as staff and students took time to celebrate Principal’s Day. We would both like to thank everyone at Aspendale Primary School for making our school such a wonderful place to learn and work. We both value the opportunity to lead our school community and look forward to continuing to build strong partnerships to support each of the children at our school.
Enjoy the last few days of the week,
Tom

This theme invites everyone across Australia to delve into the mysteries of the Universe by exploring the fundamental languages of nature, including mathematics and the groundbreaking field of quantum science.
“Decoding the Universe” will inspire and engage students by exploring the mathematics and quantum science that underpin both the natural world and the modern technologies we use every day, from photosynthesis to satellite navigation.

Premiers’ Reading Challenge
Well done to all the students who have been recording their PRC books on the website. The challenge finishes at the beginning of September, but it would be great to have everyone’s book data in by the middle of August. Students who complete the challenge will then receive a book and certificate later this term. Any questions or problems with logging in, please contact us as soon as possible.
