It’s been wonderful hearing showcase rehearsals in the courtyard this week. Tomorrow, our Foundation and Year 2 students will perform, followed by Years 3–4 on 21 November and Year 1 on 28 November. Performances will be in the courtyard, with the hall as a wet-weather option.
PYPX
On Monday I had the good fortune of spending the morning working with some of our Year Six students as they considered how they would share their learning with our community at our Exhibition. This will take place across Monday 10th November, with the Exhibition being open to our wider school community from 4-6pm. Everyone is invited!
There are many issues to learn about at the Exhibition, with my knowledge of marine national parks, plans to remove space junk and some of the causes of gaming addiction increasing from my conversations on Monday morning..png)
Remembrance Day - Poppy Appeal

Tuesday 11th November is Remembrance Day.
As in previous years, our students will stop at 11am to mark a minute’s silence. This occurs during recess. Our students will be alerted by the PA system to stand still, take their hats off, listen to a short reflection, the Last Post and then observe a minute’s silence. Our School Captains will be representing our school by laying a wreath at the Longbeach RSL.
Our Community Leaders are at the front gates, before and after school, to support the Poppy Appeal. They have a variety of poppies, pins and wristbands at different price points if you would like to support this year’s Poppy Appeal.
Curriculum Day 14th November
A reminder that the 14th of November is a curriculum day. TheirCare will be operating across the day for any children needing care.
Last Chance for Tea Towels
The last chance to purchase tea towels is this Monday. Our commemorative tea towels feature art work from each of our students. More information about this fundraiser can be found further in the newsletter. This, combined with our mango drive and upcoming colour run, will contribute funds towards the upgrade of some of our drinking taps around the school.
2026 Classes
We are in the process of organising classes for 2026. Many hours are spent by all staff in determining class structures that best support our students. We use a range of measures including student friendship wheel, academic levels, social interactions, and professional judgement to create class groups that embrace, engage, and challenge each student to grow.
Requests by parents and carers are considered when forming classes. If you would like to submit a request, please send it in writing to aspendale.ps@education.vic.gov.au prior to 4pm on Monday 10th November 2025. Please note that while all requests will be considered, they cannot be guaranteed.
Enjoy the rest of the week,
Tom

To celebrate our 100th year, Aspendale Primary School will be holding a Colour Fun Run on Friday the 5th of December (Week 9)!
This exciting, colourful event is all about having fun while raising funds for a student-led initiative, installing new water taps around the school. Each tap costs around $3,000, or for a larger one we require $8,000. We’re hoping this fundraiser, will help us reach our goal and we are very appreciative of any donations.
