We acknowledge the traditional Aboriginal custodians of the lands, waterways and skies of the Bunurong Peoples of the Kulin Nation where we gather, learn and grow at Aspendale Primary School.
We pay our respects to past and present Traditional Custodians and Elders of all nations, and their ongoing cultural, spiritual and educational practices.
We extend this respect to all Torres Strait Islanders and any First Nations peoples who learn or visit these grounds. We thank you for sharing and caring for the land we are learning on.

Dear parents and carers,

The excitement is definitely building across the school for our Colour Run tomorrow. The list of slimed teachers is increasing and Mrs Busuttil and myself are a little concerned about coming to school tomorrow with our time of slime on the horizon. It has been terrific to see our community support our three school fundraisers, the mango drive, commemorative tea towel and the colour run, across the term and we look forward to the installation our new drink taps in 2026.

Disco
Today several of our Year Six students, supported by our resident DJ (Mr) Dowling, led year levels across the school to pull out their best dance moves and groove along across the day. Thanks to our student leaders for organising fun, extracurricular activities for our students.

Ability Day
On Wednesday our school celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, by recognising it as Ability Day through the Dylan Alcott Foundation. It was great to see a splash of purple across the school and classes spending time recognising the unique abilities and contributions of all people across our community. Students made a contribution to the Dylan Alcott foundation. Thanks to Elliott Youngs for raising the profile of this day through your PYPX inquiry and to Anna Pollard, Sam Cowburn and Jess Johnston, our Inclusion Leading Teacher for your support.
Teacher Professional Learning
Our Teaching Excellence Program graduates, Stela Matthews and Natalie Tideman, attended their graduation event this week at the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Learning.
Last week, Cait Fletcher and Carla Youngs, completed the Academy’s Impact:Emerging Leaders and attended an event where they shared the findings of their research projects.
Thanks to all four teachers for your investment in your professional development.
Breakfast club
This Wednesday, 10th of December, will be our final Breakfast Club. We know from the numbers each Wednesday how many of our students value what’s on offer in the courtyard. Breakfast Club occurs thanks to the weekly commitment of our Year Six leaders, the support of our Community volunteer Chrissy and the oversight of Leah Macdonald. Thanks to this team for getting so many students off to a great start on a Wednesday.
Foundation to Year Four Showcases
With our final showcase taking place last Friday, I’d like to say thanks on behalf of our school community to Stela Matthews and Natalie Tideman for sharing your Perfoming Arts program in the courtyard across several weeks. Our students relished the opportunity to share their learning in dance, drama and music with their parents and carers. An extra special shout out to whoever was in charge of the weather.
Professional Practice Day reminder
A reminder this Monday is a student-free professional practice day. Teachers will be planning teaching and learning programs for 2026. Theircare is operating across the day.
Enjoy the colour run tomorrow!

To celebrate our 100th year, Aspendale Primary School will be holding a Colour Fun Run on Friday the 5th of December (Week 9)!
This exciting, colourful event is all about having fun while raising funds for a student-led initiative, installing new water taps around the school. Each tap costs around $3,000, or for a larger one we require $8,000. We’re hoping this fundraiser, will help us reach our goal and we are very appreciative of any donations.
